Your trusted data and Agathos Engage create a winning combination
- John "JP" Pollard
“We already have individualized data … our physicians just never look at it.”
Analytics and clinical leaders alike often find themselves in the same frustrating situation. Perhaps you relate. You have a wealth of clinical data that analytics teams have worked tirelessly to ensure flawless attribution, sensible inclusion and exclusion criteria, severity adjustments, and process orientation to withstand the inevitable scrutiny of physicians. You have tried sharing data in meetings and built intricate dashboards with beautiful visualizations, yet you cannot seem to get physicians to engage (or even care). Furthermore, even when data is accessed, it appears to have little impact on clinical practice.
With physicians responsible for most actions and decisions that lead to both outcomes and expenses, this is a challenging situation. Whether increasing ED throughput and avoiding boarding, primary care performance against VBC contracts, or helping hospitalists coordinate more efficiently around shared cases and handoffs, if clinical leaders could only get individual physicians to see how different their practices are from their peers, then perhaps they would change. But how?
Agathos has heard these challenges time and time again as we share our exhaustive approach to engaging physicians with data. Only recently, though, did we consider pivoting our focus more toward how to help data-forward healthcare organizations with often the last (and critical) missing piece — engagement.
With Agathos Engage, we offer a solution that does not seek to augment or replace the data and analytics work your teams have already done, but instead expand the reach of that data — sometimes referred to as “the last mile” — among physicians themselves. In short, we have decoupled our data delivery mechanism from our data pipeline and insight libraries to better support organizations who already have great data yet struggle to get physicians to use it.
Agathos Engage delivers your trusted data to individual physicians in a lightweight mobile experience that shows them how their practice patterns compare to those of their peers.

The following sections explain the components of Agathos Engage.
Engage’s text notification and mobile experience periodically generates recent, sufficiently sampled Compare data (sourced from existing individual-level reporting) and sends it to users at a designated time chosen by the user. These brief (1-2 minutes, usually weekly) interactions are where most end-users:
- See how their data compare to that of unblinded peers
- Consider methodologies, supporting evidence, and practice recommendations of particular metrics
- Track trends over time
Web-based application with individualized practice data, peer comparisons, and historical trends
Analytics engine by which metrics delivered via Insights are prioritized and cadenced based on predicted impact, recency, and other configurable preferences
What kinds of physician engagement rates can be expected?
If your provider-level metrics’ attribution and calculation methods are sound, and if your organization has implemented best practices around change management and communication, you should expect monthly engagement (i.e., application access) rates above 80 percent, and per-insight-per-recipient above 50 percent.
