Agathos is headed to the Society of Hospital Medicine's Annual Hospital Medicine Conference!
We are honored to support our customer, Syed Raza, MD, on his abstract, Changing hospitalists’ practice habits: the effect of real-time individualized feedback on opioid prescribing.
Dr. Raza will present the abstract as a poster during the 2019 Scientific Abstract and Poster Competition, known as Research, Innovations and Clinical Vignettes (RIV).
This is one of the most popular events at SHM’s Annual Conference and enables hospitalists from across the country to discuss emerging science and clinical cases, share feedback, and make valuable professional connections. Many cutting-edge abstracts that are first presented at SHM’s RIV sessions go on to be published in respected medical journals.
In October 2016, the opioid epidemic was declared a national health emergency. The CDC reports deaths from opioid overdoses increased from approximately 28,000 (2014) to 48,000 (2017). Over half of those were from prescription opioids.
Transparency in healthcare and reliable feedback to clinicians is a key ingredient toward fighting the opioid epidemic.
Last year, Agathos similarly collaborated with David Alvarez, MD on his abstract, Impact of individualized metrics and mobile delivery on hospitalist engagement and outcomes, as well as his oral presentation on the topic.
We look forward to celebrating with Dr. Raza in the Wine and Cheese Room at the Old Hickory Steakhouse for our inaugural SHM Meet and Mingle.
If you are attending Hospital Medicine 2019, please reach out to us—we would love to see you!
